The holidays are upon us, your space needs sprucing up and what are we going to cook for all our friends, that are coming to see our new home in the sky?
Your first step on the road to your dream home was deciding in which, fabulous high-rise tower you wanted to move into. Now, what’s next?
The design options are endless and you want to take your time making your perfect space perfect for you…but what can you do for the holidays to make this season so special?
First pour over the current magazines, suggesting what your special tree should look like. Does anything stand out to you? Which look is YOU? Which look will spotlight your special place in a most special way?
Are there any hobbies you are into that could be a theme tree? Do you have any earrings that you have only one of because the other has disappeared? Jewelry can make fabulous one of a kind ornaments. Do you love birds? There are fabulous bird ornaments in many colors that could make your holiday decorations simply yours.
I have a friend who collects Nut Crackers. You know, those soldiers standing straight and tall that originally were meant to crack our holiday nuts? Well she has them in 4-foot-tall statues, and 3” tall ornaments. She adorns her napkins with nutcracker napkin rings…you get my drift? She makes a themed event around all the cool nutcrackers she has collected. What have you collected that you thought…what can I do with all these things to show them off?
The holiday’s is that perfect time for your unique collection to show off. I have another friend who loves bears…not the cuddly stuffed bear kind, but water colors, statues, ornaments. When the Coca-Cola® ads came out with the polar bears frolicking in winter, she loved the ads. Does her tree reflect this theme? Yes! She has bears of all kinds peeking out from the white snow covered limbs of her tree.
She has an ice skating rink made from mirrors in her front yard that has bears skating across it in merriment. She has special dessert plates, that have cartoonish bears in all their winter fun to serve her guests their dessert after a wonderful meal.
You have a wide-open palette to work with. Find the spot for that beautiful tree or trees and let’s do this! I have trees in my living area but also a tree in the master bedroom. That way if I have our traditional ornaments on display for our friends to enjoy, I can have another beautiful special tree just for me to enjoy in our bedroom. One year, I had a cluster of trees in the bay window of my living room. What a fun look that was, so don’t think you must be traditional with your decoration. Pile wonderful cozy throws and pillows in the holiday theme around your living room and see the delighted faces of friends who cuddle up to enjoy your holiday party. I have one friend who bought throws she knew her friends would love, had them out for the party, and as a surprise gave them to her friends as they left for the night. What better way to start the holidays by sharing the joy of giving at your event? Think of your friends and their wonderful personalities, then go find that perfect gift for them.
Share the joy of your new home with family and friends. Listen to their comments about what they love about your new space, so you can formulate your design plans for 2017!
LOVE the season, Share the JOY and enjoy your friends for that lifetime of love you have built with them.

Happiest of Holidays to Everyone!
