Spring is coming soon! Are you City Slickers in the mood to get out of the city for a few hours and have a fun Wild West outdoor experience? One way to enjoy nature in the surrounding desert of Las Vegas is to go on a Horseback Riding Tour. My favorite tour is in Red Rock Canyon. Less than a 20-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip, the entire family (over the age of six) can saddle-up on well trained horses (no horseback riding experience necessary), that are led by expert and very polite wranglers and you can ride off into the Sunset or Sunrise of our beautiful desert. Average tours are about 60-minutes, and the whole family will feel exhilarated.

I will never forget the fun birthday event I did with my daughters for my youngest daughter’s 10th birthday; it was in the middle of December riding in the snow. The highlight of the event for me was the awesome Kodak moment, once we reached the top of the ridge on our trail. The only way to see this landscape is by horseback because there are no public paved roads, and is pretty far from the hiking trails. The mountains and scenery were breathtaking. The highlight for the birthday girl was making a snowman and then getting back to the stables, where we sat by the fireplace and had a delicious cup of hot cocoa. These tours are available year-round, but March is the best time of the year to explore these trails on horseback because it is the beginning of the blooming season and the foliage is green from the recent rains.

For tourists visiting Las Vegas and staying at a hotel, they have a special 5-hour expedition, where they take you to the horse ranches and provide you with entertainment and a real Cowboy style meal, along with an hour long delightful trail ride. They have three tours to choose from and they even pick you up at your hotel and bring you back afterwards. They have the Morning Maverick Horseback Ride with Breakfast, the Old Spanish Trail Horseback Ride with Lunch, and the Wild West Sunset Horseback Ride with Dinner.
As always, I love sharing with my readers the joys of the outdoor lifestyle for you wonderful Las Vegas City peeps. If you have a fun story to share about your outdoor excursions, please send me an email to [email protected] or message me on Facebook.
